Twenty-seven formal and snapshot portrait photographs of the West family. Family members depicted include William H. West, Mrs. William H. West, and their son, William E. West. Some of the photographs depict William H. West's Civil War military service with the Sixth Maine Infantry Regiment. Photographers include Henry Barrett and Frederick C. Low of Cambridge, Mass., as well as James E. Purdy, Grove Hinman Loomis, and Emily Stokes, all of Boston, Mass. Some of the photographs are identified. The collection includes cartes de visite, cabinet cards, and other paper photographs; all are black and white.
